Phillips County continues to be a national leader in production agriculture.
Agriculture is a main focus in Phillips County as 40% of our income is derived from the industry. Phillips County continues to be ranked in the top 10 for commodity sales for hogs and pigs, corn for grain, wheat and other crops. The county is proud of the number three ranking it receives for corn for grain acres and the number of six ranking for sugar beets. These numbers show the dedication to a technology driven workforce in agriculture production.

This is largely attributable to the development of irrigation during the past 40 years for the production of cash crops such as beans, sugar beets, corn and wheat. The water in Phillips County comes from the Ogallala Aquifer. There is a sizable amount of irrigation throughout the county and all of the water is of very good quality.

Phillips County also hosts many fine livestock and feedlot operations. The county ranks second in the state for hogs and pigs sold and 16th for both cattle and calves and broilers and other meat-type chickens sold. On the sales side of things, Phillips County ranks number seven for total value of agricultural products sold.
