Amherst

This small community with its 75 residents is the ultimate country and rural family setting. Located on Highway 23, nine miles Northeast of Holyoke, the Amherst Cooperative Elevators indicate the mainstay of the local economy - the abundance of crop production. The elevator has a grain storage capacity of 7 million bushels and is the largest grain facility between Denver and Omaha.

One of Amherst's great supporters is the local volunteer fire department. The Amherst VFD recently collaborated with GOCO to build a recreational park featuring a playground, walking/roller skate path, tennis/basketball court, softball field and a picnic/barbecue area. The fire department also maintains a community room with has a small gym. A town landmark and a Colorado historic site, many people stop to visit the St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Built in the early 1900s, the historic church features original stained glass windows and a historically restored schoolhouse. Amherst's best attribute is that it is a fine place to raise a family away from big city life.

Haxtun

Haxtun is located on the beautiful high plains agricultural area of northeastern Colorado. It is the center of one of the most productive farming and ranching regions in our country. Some Haxtun area families continue to farm land homesteaded by their relatives more than 100 years ago. Those brave and hardy people helped give the community great character and stability. The strength of every small town is its people and their willingness to be active participants in the life of their community. The town of Haxtun is made up of approximately 1000 individuals who cherish their privacy but work together in an effort to help Haxtun succeed. Our "Small City with a Big Heart" is located at the crossroads of US Highway 6 and Highway 59, about 30 miles from the Interstate 76. Haxtun has excellent school systems, progressive health care and a thriving business community. Visitors and guests are welcome to visit our town, taste the good life we enjoy, explore the subtle beauty of Northeastern Colorado's plains and perhaps decide to join in our stable and productive community.

Holyoke

Established in 1888, Holyoke's residents are proud of their prosperous, progressive city, located in one of the best farming areas of Colorado. Publicized as the "City of Pride and Progress," visitors praise the community's well-kept appearance and are impressed by the beautiful lawns, trees and picnic parks. Over 145 businesses serve visitor and residents needs alike. Holyoke proudly boasts its high quality education, health care and technology. Located at the crossroads of US Highways 6 and 385 in Northeast Colorado Holyoke is surrounded by excellent dry and irrigated cropland. It is less than an hour's drive to both Interstate 76 and 80. Holyoke is county seat of Phillips County and is a progressive but peaceful place to enjoy life.

Paoli

The town of Paoli's rural setting offers country living, with the towns of Holyoke and Haxtun only nine miles away. Paoli's low cost of living and city services provide residents with the "country feel." Paoli's population 42 people is served by a progressive and informed town board and boasts the Paoli Cooperative Elevator, post office, town hall and several small businesses. The townspeople are proud of the small city park with lighted tennis courts and doubles as a place to play basketball or skate. The park includes restrooms, playground equipment and picnic tables. Paoli has no bars, no schools, and no town law enforcement but remains a very peaceful, pleasant community to live, according to the mayor, a 47-year veteran of Paoli community service.
